Hi,
I have a couple of small new features I am working on so the next update is not planned for a least a few weeks, however if in the interim I can find a quick fix for this specific bug then I will try to release that separately.

Thanks for the information I have tested this myself and can confirm it is a bug, I will look to include a fix in the next update for Bulk Edit.Thank you.
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterThe latest version (1.0.4.4) should be available anytime now, please check your Site Settings as per above then let me know if it solves your problem.
Regards,
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterQuick note this, the update went through however I have discovered an issue in the packaging, so I’ve just resubmitted v1.0.4.4, so if you see this now please hold off on upgrading until next week as the above version doesn’t contain your fix.
Regards,
MartinMartin LaukkanenKeymasterOkay I have found and fixed the bug, please look out for v1.0.4.4 update which has just been submitted to MS for approval. (Expect 3-5 working days)

MartinMartin LaukkanenKeymasterHi there,
Thanks for the feedback, I’ve just tested and confirmed your issue in my lab, and yes as you say it does appear to not handle the ampersand (&) properly in the filter.
I’ll have a look at fixing that in the app in the coming days and update you again.
Martin.
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterHi again,
Okay I have looked into this further and been able to find the cause of the issue, so I’ve just created and submitted an update to the App which is currently being reviewed by Microsoft.
In the next few days (Est around the 16th April 2015) please check if your ‘Site Contents’ to see the update when it is available, the update link will look like the following:
If you are not an administrator you may need to speak to your administrator to install the update.
Please let me know if you continue to have any problems after installing this update.
Martin
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterHi Jessica,
Okay from the sounds of it my guess would be that the individual update jobs for each project are overwriting each other, so for example, when you update field 1 on Project A, then immediately (when able) you update field 2 on Project A, etc that may result in this bug.
I will do some testing on my side to see if it something I can address with a bug fix.
In the meantime if you update one Project after another, so for example field 1 in Project A, then field 1 in Project B, and so on leaving a little extra time between each individual project change.
I will update you here with my findings soon.
MartinMartin LaukkanenKeymasterHi Jessica,
What you are doing definitely sounds correct, can you tell me are you updating different fields in the same project or different projects? And do you see any error message at the bottom of the screen when doing so?
Thanks,

There are a few things I’d ask you to check regarding this error, firstly can you review the first two FAQ here:
Specifically: “Security required for Bulk Edit usage” & “On-premises install: No projects are loaded and no error message is shown”
If neither of those solves your problem there may be further errors logged in the browser console, which can be accessed by pressing F12 in either IE or Chrome (or from the dev menu in other browsers). Can you open that console, and reload the app then copy past the complete error messages (if any) that you see there?
Thank you

Can you confirm that the problem only affects projects at the end of the page? Ie the drop down values are truncated by the browser window itself? If so that is a known issue, one to be fixed in a future update.
For a workaround, you can reorder the projects by using the order by options on the column headers, for example reverse the order by name to show last projects first.
Hope that helps.
Martin.
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterHi,
Interesting question, I have not tried this before but after just testing now I can see that it doesn’t update the date. Although it also doesn’t get any error!
The behavior is the same as when you edit the Start Date of such a project in a PDP, the date saves without issue, but then when you reopen the project it has reverted.
Hope that helps,
MartinMartin LaukkanenKeymasterOkay that certainly sounds like an issue with the SharePoint app deployment, can you do the following;
– Uninstall the Bulk Edit, and re-install from the App store. Also can you install another app like Holiday Sync as well to double check.
– Review the steps in my blog article, as they relate to installation / farm configuration issues.
Let me know if that helps,
Martin- This reply was modified 10 years, 3 months ago by Martin Laukkanen.
Martin LaukkanenKeymasterHi Brandon,
Can I get you to try a couple of things to investigate this?
1. Have you previously installed any apps on the PWA / SharePoint farm? Bulk Publish or my Holiday Sync are a couple of other free apps that are available for PWA.
2. If you open Site Contents and locate the App tile there, does it open?
I have seen an issue where the ribbon icon fails to work due to caching issues, basically both the Internet Explorer cache and / or the SharePoint server cache caches the ribbon buttons and if you reinstall Bulk Edit it can take some time for that to update. Try item 2 above to confirm and try to clear your IE cache on your computer.
Also have a look at this: https://nearbaseline.com/2014/07/problems-installing-apps-in-sharepoint-farm/, in particular at the bottom where I have a few pointers about items to check in your farm when errors occur.

MartinSeptember 10, 2014 at 3:04 am in reply to: Revised project plan for many similar project models #31681Martin LaukkanenKeymasterHi there,
Interesting question! However unfortunately the answer is no, Bulk Edit does not support updating tasks *inside* of projects, and so you could not use it to update insert / edit tasks as you suggest.
Something like Nintex workflow may allow you to do what you need using workflow if this is a frequently required change, or failing that perhaps a VBA macro in MS Project could do what you need with minimal development?
Hope that helps,
Martin. -
